It's a Brad Brad World

OMG! I just found out that Brad Goreski is going to have his own show on Bravo..read more. How cute is the name: "It's a Brad Brad World". Those Bravo folks are clever :)

I'm hoping he'll explain his version of why he left Rachel Zoe & redeem himself on the show. But I'll watch regardless. If you are a major Brad fan, go check out his blog!

RAWR

Dress: H&M $15
Necklace: H&M $15
Belt: Freebie with a different dress
Shoes: BCBGirls via Ross $20

I saw this dress on Pinterest and posted it to my wishlist board. When I checked it out at H&M,  I happened to find the necklace also and I love how both look together.

For this last day of the Fashion Challenge, we are showcasing our favorite fall trend which for me is animal print. I've had this obsession with it for a couple of years now.  Love leopard, zebra, python, & even giraffe print for its graphic, bold, yet neutral look.
An extra bonus is that it always elicits a "roar" from mr. shopfreak, too :)

Dress: JC Penney? <$5
Necklace: Vera Wang, Kohls

You'll be seeing a lot more of my caged sandals now. A lot of my recent outfits happen to look better with them and its been months that I've worn them. There's no rhyme or reason to the peaks and valleys of my wardrobe wearing...now I'm just documenting it.

Another member of my striped clothing family. I tend to buy lots of summer clothing since it's my favorite season, but I've been making the conscious effort to

Fashion Inspiration

Top: Express
Skirt: New York & Company
Belt: freebies with dress

My favorite sources of style inspiration:

  • Store Ads: this outfit is straight out of an ad. I loved the look and tailored it to my closet. I never would have added color to an animal print, but it's really cute.
  • Magazines:  my favorite magazine is People Stylewatch because it is all fashion and they focus more on affordable, everyday fashion versus expensive, runway fashion. I also like InStyle and Lucky.
  • Pinterest: I love that you can pin just the pictures and see all your favorites on one screen.
  • Style blogs of course..
  • 21 Day Challenge: I really enjoyed have a prompt to inspire me for the day and I'm hoping to find more challenges in the future.
With all this inspiration, it's a constant struggle to focus on shopping from my closet rather than just going out and finding a deal on something similar. But I have done really well this month. Most of my purchases have been from gift cards/ freebies so I'm proud of myself. I know my husband will be the happiest of all though!

I'm taking part in the Fashion Challenge this week. This first outfit is showcasing the animal print trend. Find out more @ Megan Mae Daily

Fall Uniform

Shirt: Target: Free with coupon (was $3 on clearance)
Jeans: Forever 21 $10.50
Boots: Sway $20
Necklace: Torrid, Free with birthday coupon (was $10) 2010
Bangle: Billy the Tree c/o Deal Pulp

I think this is my new Fall uniform: skinny jeans or leggings, easy top, boots and jewelry.
So comfortable and perfect for layering when it gets colder.  Maybe Autumn will be my new favorite season. Well, at least she'll move up to the #2 spot.

These are my most fave boots ever and I've worn them down so much I might have to find a replacement. :( I like the height of them and the color..it's going to be hard to find new ones.

In other news, do you not love this bangle?

Girl in the City

Shirt: Express (a few years ago)
Skirt: Forever 21 $10 (2011)
Shoes: Payless $7 (2010)
Purse: Coach, gift from parents (1997)
Earrings: Kohls

We were in the city for my niece's safari themed birthday party, so of course I had to get into the spirit! I didn't want to look too dressed up so I added the yellow skirt and shoes.

I stopped by Zara on the way to the party to check out some stuff I found online and bought a purse as a present from Mr. Shopfreak for our anniversary :)
I love being his personal shopper!

Disappointed to find out that they only have sale racks at certain times of the year.
Guess I can't always get my bargain shopping fix there, but hopefully they'll add
a sales area to their website soon!

I'm also over at Distinct.Style. Innovation today for their wear.it.wednesday feature.
They are showcasing the tribal/ navajo trend.

Note to Self: Add belt

Dress: Gift from In-laws
Belt: Old Navy $1

I usually wear this dress free-flowing, but I like it even more with a belt. More and more of my outfits are now worn with a belt...such an easy addition to re-mix to my wardrobe.

Playing Catch-up..

Dress: Charlotte Russe $2
Flip Flops: Payless

It's already fall, but I still have outfits I haven't posted so I'm trying to catch up.
I love this batik, tribal print and the ruffles.  This dress is enough of a statement on its own, without any accessories.  Its easy, comfortable and cute, can't beat that!

P.S. This outfit is also featured at Distinct. Style. Innovation for wear.it.wednesday.

Fashion Reality TV: Fashion Hunters

I just watched the first episode of Fashion Hunters and I wanted to love it, but I'm just not hooked yet. Maybe it's because they didn't talk enough about the staff, maybe it's because its all about labels, I'm not sure. It might just be too label conscious and too expensive for my taste. I did like how they showed someone's closet and it was fun to see Simon Doonan. Maybe I'll watch a few more episodes before I decide.

The Ultimate Deal!

Dress: Old Navy $0.48!
Earrings: Forever 21 $3 in 2010
Flip Flops: Payless

How excited was I when I found this dress! The dress wasn't marked down, but I knew it was going to be pretty cheap. I had just bought a green printed version for $5 awhile ago and paid 50% off because one tie wasn't sewed on. Easy fix. I thought that was a deal, until I found the same dress in turquoise and in perfect condition for $2.50. When I got to the register when I found this version, it came up as $0.48 so I bought one for my BFF too. Maybe it's excessive to have three of the same dress, but it's just too cute!
Love Old Navy's additional 50% off clearance sales!

Book Review: Oh No She Didn't by Clinton Kelly

I recently borrowed this from the library and it had me laughing out loud. I heard later that it had the same effect on my mom so you have to check it out next time you are in a bookstore. I kinda skimmed through the book for anything that caught my eye and
I did learn a few things:

1) I should pay more attention to the condition of my shoes. I tend to use my money more for clothing so I probably wear my shoes down too much.

2) Good posture: I always need a reminder on this one....

3) Some rules are just meant to be broken: the "no horizontal stripes" one especially...

It's fun to just look at the pics and if you have the time to read through, Clinton is kinda funny...
