Windowpane Scarf

Scarf:  ℅  Echen, Inc.
Sweater: Old Navy
Leggings: Forever 21
Boots: Kmart

Loving this blanket scarf. It is big and versatile to add with some color to brighten up winter outfits. I love that the fabric is light enough that it's not too bulky and it's soft and not itchy. I tend to see black and white plaid paired most often with red, and even though I love that festive combo, I thought I'd picture the scarf with a baby blue
for a more unique outfit.

(I received this scarf for free, but
all comments are my honest opinions about this product)

Scarf: 2 ways

Necklace: Fallas $1
Tank: ?
Skirt: American Apparel $6

I've seen a few outfits and a video of this idea of wearing a scarf like a vest, but it wasn't until I saw a store display that I wanted to try it out for myself. I asked a store associate for a reminder tutorial and had to try it when I received this watercolor scarf
from Bangles of Bombay. I love the multicolor print and how light and airy this scarf is so I can wear it year-round. It's big enough that I'll be able to use it as a sarong and more traditionally as a neck scarf in other seasons. I have to say that I like this look the best and will have to try it with other scarves in the future.

Scarf as Headband: Purple Indian Silk Scarf $25 c/o Bangles of Bombay
Dress: Loft, $5 old

With the Indian Silk Scarf, I went for another untraditional look by using it as a head scarf. Since it is silk, it is so soft and could be tightened easily around my head.
The purple is so pretty and went well with my bracelets. Thank you Bangles of Bombay!

Here's the bangles I wore with the Watercolor Scarf:

Perfectly Plaid

Scarf: c/o Persun, $12
Sweater: Charlotte Russe?
Forest Green Skinnies: Sears $15, free with Shop your way rewards
Boots: Forever 21 $10

When Persun contacted me to do a review, I found so much cute stuff so I had a hard time choosing. My favorite feature is their lookbook because I always like to see products on real people.  I was especially into plaid this winter so I was excited to find this big multicolored scarf. Since I was buying online, I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out once I received it. I was pleasantly surprised at its softness and warmth. I thought it had more of a red to it, but it's more hot pink plus yellow in there. So cute!

Chevron Remix

Shirt: Rue 21, last year
Scarf: Target
Leggings: Forever 21
Boots: Ross

So I was feeling so over anything chevron and didn't think I'd be wearing this tunic again because it felt too trendy. I wasn't happy with the open mandarin collar, but by remixing this top with the red scarf, it looks so much better. Because it's long, it's perfect to wear with leggings and it's a good basic for the winter with different scarves.
Just goes to show that you just can't give up on your clothes :)

Chevron Infinity Scarf: c/o Grace's Boutique

I'm so into mustard yellow these days so I couldn't pass up the chance to pick up this scarf.  I wearing it shorter this time around, but you can also untwist it to hang below your waist.  It's so soft, light and love the shade of yellow that pops against all my winter neutrals.

Since I'm announcing the winner of the Posh'mina today, I thought I'd pick out some statement necklaces that would look great with their scarves. Most of their prints have a bohemian vibe so I've chosen necklaces accordingly:
all of these are available on my Stella & Dot website

Stella & Dot Fiona Bib

Stella & Dot Awakening Charm Necklace

Stella & Dot Rio Triple Strand Coin Necklace

Stella & Dot Calypso Coin Necklace

The winner of the Posh'mina is May Kan! I'll be contacting you and you will have 48 hours to respond before I choose another winner. Thank you to all that participated!

A Posh Giveaway

Scarf: Miss Mosiac Slotted c/o The Posh'mina
Skirt: Express, old
Shirt: Target

Bracelet: c/o ShopLately

Scarf: Plum Yum Slotted c/o The Posh'mina
Shirt: NY & Co, old
Skirt: Express, old

I first saw The Posh'mina scarves on ShopLately and I loved the bohemian look of the scarves. I love to wear pashima type scarves because they are bigger and can cover your arms and shoulders. The only problem is that traditional pashminas have to either be held or tied to stay on. I love how The Posh'mina's slots help keep the scarf laying over your shoulders and you're still able to do other things with your hands.
Love how creative they styled the scarves on the website...

These pictures really do not do the color justice. I couldn't decide between the Miss Mosaic because of the print and the Plum Yum color so The Posh'mina was so generous to offer both. Even better, they are offering a Posh'mina to you too!
The winner will get to choose any Posh'mina!

The Posh'mina giveaway ends Sunday, January 20, 2013.
Open to US and Canada.

Pink Serenity

Shirt: Victoria's Secret
Scarf: Kohls?
Purse: Coach, gifted, old

Becoming a stylist for Stella & Dot has created a whole new list of outfits to put together to showcase my new jewelry for my blog. It's been a good starting off point and a way to get creative with new outfits. I started this one with the earrings and I wore a bright pink lipstick to match. I haven't used this purse in awhile so it was perfect to add
a bigger pop of pink to my simple outfit.

I wore the scarf/earring/lipstick combo earlier this month with a black dress and boots to work, but didn't get a picture. That's what is hardest about blogging in the winter. I just don't have time to take pictures in the morning so I've decided to try to wear my blog-able outfits from Fridays-Sundays when there's more time to get an outfit pic.

Put a Scarf on it

Tank: H&M $3
Jeans: LEI, old
Scarf: $4 Gymboree
Shoes: Payless $5

Taking part in #StyleMeMay again for their "put a scarf on it" challenge.
I actually wore a navy cardi sweater over this, but I like the outfit way better without it and the pictures weren't worth posting.  Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Giveaway Time! (Closed)

Scarf: c/o LANY Couture
Shirt: Target, free with coupon
Skirt: Old Navy $2.50
Shoes: Payless $5
Purse: Michael Kors, gift from mr.shopfreak
Bracelets: Forever 21 and gifts

So happy to have a sunny, warm day in the middle of the winter! A perfect day for my new scarf from LANY Couture :) I love that it is lightweight, orange and striped (of course :)).
It's soft and feels more like cotton even though the description says it's polyester. The only drawback is that the edges look a little unfinished because they are a straight-edged cut. It doesn't bother me because I can fold the edges under,
but I was surprised to find that it wasn't sewn.

Thanks to LANY Couture,  one reader will receive a $50 e-gift card to buy this scarf or anything you want! They also have my lovely turquoise necklace from this post
LANY Couture is also offering shopfreak readers
a 10% discount using code: Couture10!

Here's how you can win:
Required entry: Complete all three tasks to count as one entry:
1) Become a follower of my blog
2) Sign up for LANY Couture's newsletter
3) Leave a comment that you completed both tasks

Extra Entries: one entry each:

Going Southwest

Dress: Forever 21 $
Scarf: Rue 21
Belt: Old Navy
Bracelets: Target and Claires
Boots: Mervyns

The challenge today was to dress from a region for
Freckles in April's Winter Challenge. My first thought was to do a Cali girl, but since
it's too cold to do summerwear, I went with this.  The scarf and belt have a southwest vibe and
I like how my neutral dress plays up those elements.

Small Investments

Scarf: c/o ShopLately  ($14.95)
Shirt: Old Navy
Leggings: ?
Boots: Mervyns, really old
Purse: Michael Kors, gift from mr. shopfreak

I love this scarf, mostly because all the colors brighten up any winter day. What's not to love: its supersoft and has lovely pattern mixing with stripes and paisley. My outfit is ho-hum and comfortable for a long car ride to visit family, but when you add the scarf..it totally brings it up a notch :) Don't you love when small investments like this can update what
you already have in your closet?

P.S. This is linked to my referral site. ShopLately did provide this scarf, but all opinions are my own.
